Protecting the gear..

Thought it was about time got a decent case to pack up the gear in – something about carrying stuff around in a pile of loose fitting bags and boxes does my head – especially when we are talking about a significant value of equipment. So I went out to get a decent case for the VCM600 and APC40.
Now, to start, Vestax, why the hell do you have to make a project that sits just outside the industry standard sizing of 19 inches, or the width of a turntable? I have a couple of spare 1200 cases – but no, you had to go make the thing just a tiny bit to big to fit it in. Yesh.
Anyhow – I had my eye on the Pelican cases – they seem to get a good review – but they also carry a hell of a price with them.
Off to go and speak to David and the folk at A2Z Technologies to see what we could find. After a bit of a catch up, David got very excited and showed me his handy piece of cardboad – that essentially show the dimensions of all the cases that they have available. In the end, the Nanuk 945 case is the one I went with.
So, I got it home, and started trying to find the way to fit everything in the best. Of course, within 30 seconds I have totally butchered the foam that came with it, and had to go get some more – one trip to Para-Rubber and $70 later, and we were nearly there.
Well happy with it. I can fit the VCM600, APC40 and stand in it, with a bit of room to spare.

Next Event – July 19th – For the Music
June 14th, 2009. Published under News. No Comments.
Well. We will overlook that I have been booked under both the wrong name and genre, aye?
Bromdie Dub will be dragging half the studio along on the night to give you some dub techno styles.
“For the Music” will be the showcase for Stage 2 of his live show. Taking a collection of musical ideas, Bromide Dub will construct the tracks live on stage, risking life and limb as he looks for the exclusive groove, hidden deep with the boxes of equipment he will be bringing with him. Certainly don’t come expecting anything familiar, as all the material is being written and performed exclusively for this show, and while he certainly wouldn’t go as far as saying its ‘boundary pushing’, for those who know the subtle differences between ‘live’ and ‘live’, it is going to be something very unique.
It all carries a risk of all going terribly wrong, but that’s the point! While referencing genres from all over the place, you can expect a night of bass heavy dub-techno, hand crafted live for you, on the spot.
