Technics Turntable Servicing and Repairs

Ah, the venerable Technics Turntable. A workhorse for DJs for many, many years. Its what I learnt to mix on, and even though now discontinued, they are still my preference when it comes to interacting with music. Be it playing traditional vinyl, or with timecode systems, the turntable platter is hard to beat in regards to tactile control.

However, like any piece of precision engineering, these devices require some regular maintenance. Especially considering the environment they are often used in, the faders quickly clog up, the bearings dry up, and the connections stop working as well as they did when new.

“Thanks to Kerry for getting the damaged turntable back in action for the weekend, and so promptly!!” – Alex, Red Bar – Auckland

    Hi there,

Can you please let me know how much to do a standard service for two 1210 Mk2′s as well as replacing both pitch controls, disabling the quartz lock and upgrading to blue LED’s?

    Thanks

    • Kerry says:

No worries – a standard service on two 1210mk3′s will be $140. That includes removing the quartz lock for you.

If they need their pitch controls replaced, you are looking at $64.90 each (installation included in the standard service).

I have Blue LED kits available for the turntables – replaces all the lights – $130 fitted per turntable.

Heya Sean – yeah, I treat mine as my babies. Long gone are the days of me ‘lending’ them out for people to use. No-one treats them like you would.

$150 dollars to have them replaced, that includes the standard service as well.
